St Michael Scapular – 100% wool
The Scapular of Saint Michael is a devotion associated with St. Michael, the Archangel, who led the army of angels to cast Satan and the rebellious angels into Hell. He is often invoked for protection against sin and evil.
Pope Pius IX gave the St. Michael Scapular his blessing, but it was first formally approved under Pope Leo XIII, who sanctioned the Archconfraternity of the Scapular of St. Michael. While the confraternity is now extinct, the faithful may still be enrolled in this scapular by any priest.
The form of the St Michael shield scapular is unique from other scapulars. It consists of two pieces of cloth (one blue and the other black) in the shape of a small shield. One of the bands is blue and the other black.
It depicts St. Michael defeating the dragon and the words “Quis ut Deus” adorn both sides. The words mean “Who is like God?” which is a translation of the Hebrew name of Michael and as well as words attributed to Michael when rebuking Satan.
